The method of determining the percentage of body fat in the photo step by step0) All calculations of body fat are made according to the YMCA methodics. The YMCA uses data on gender, body weight and waist circumference
YMCA Formula For Men:
((4.15 × waist - 0.082 × weight - 98.42) / weight) × 100
YMCA Formula For Women:
((4.15 × waist - 0.082 × weight - 76.76) / weight) × 100
1) Collecting inputs to formula.
1. Gender data is collected during registration
2. Body weight is also collected at the time user registration
3. The weist circumference is gathered via user's attached photo
a) We use one of the most commonly used computer vision algorithms SOTa to segment RCNN images to detect human body parts (key points)
If we find 4 necessary points: left hip, right hip, forehead and toe, we can proceed to the next step
b) We calculate photo's scale = (height_model * 1.025) / height, where height_model is difference between forehead and toe on the Y-axis
c) Now we can find hip_girth_cm = girth * hips_model * 1.15 / accuracy, where girth*1.15 is aproximate relation between hip length and hip girth,
hips_model - difference between right and left heap on the X-axis
4. We apply all collected raw data to the YMCA formula and return the percentage of body fat
